Answer
Hi,

Thanks for your question, I will try to assist!

An Airframe and Power Plant license from the Federal Aviation Administration is a very worthy credential to have, ESPECIALLY if it is coupled with a baccalaurate degree in aviation.  That way, you have a credential (the A and P license) to get you an initial position (which may be a "hands-on" position working on or with aircraft) and you will have another credential (the BS degree) that will help you move up in the organization.

As far as schools to attend, you might check with the University Aviation Association at www.uaa.aero for their COLLEGIATE AVIATION GUIDE....it costs $25 or so but it is a good listing of over 100 schools and universities that offer aviation, including 25 or so that offer the A and P and a degree.  Some of the universities that are known for their A and P schools are:

Purdue University
Western Michigan University
Kansas State University-Salina
and
Southern Illinois University Carbondale (the school I work for)

As far as paying for school, there are three good resources for you:

The University Aviation Association has a COLLEGIATE AVIATION SCHOLARSHIP LISTING that is available to view on line at www.uaa.aero or you can contact them and buy a copy for around $20.

Also, check this website:  www.avscholars.com for good aviation-related financial aid and scholarship information.

Finally, check with the school or schools that you apply to for admission since they also have aviation-related scholarship money for you to apply for....

Best wishes to you,
