Question
QUESTION: I Miss Trupti has completed Aircraft Maintenance Engineering from Mumbai,India. and currently working in a small firm. But i plan to do Aviation Management in future year. I want to know whether my education is enough to get admission for MBA in Aviation. And if i am eligible then what procedure i need to follow to get there with respect to entrance exams.
Waiting for your reply.

With Regards.
Trupti

ANSWER: Dear Trupti:

Thank you for your question, I will try to asssit.

In order to fully answer your questions, you will need to answer these questions:

1.  Is the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Program that you completed one that is accredited by a government agency in India and provided you with a government certificate as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer?  Is it ICAO approved (approved by the International Civil Aviation Organization)

Here the answer is important because, if it is a government and ICAO-approved program, then, the standards at which you were trained are essentially transferrable standards used throughout the world--technically enabling you to work and train anywhere (within your limits in terms of language, etc).  Since the aviation industry is growing globally, this is important to your future in aviation.

2.  Is the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Program that you completed offered by a post-secondary (or, university or college-level) institution that is acccredited to offer university-level or college level courses for credit?  If so, is it at the baccalaureate or undergraduate degree level?

The answer to these questions are important because, if it is a program offered for college credit, then, the credits may well be transferrable to a college or univesity degree program.  (this would be the case in the USA).  The question of level of degree offering is important because if you have not earned the equivalent of a bachelors degree (typically, four years of study beyond high school level), the, you would not be eligible for admission to an MBA program (which is two years of study BEYOND the baccalaureate level degree).

3.  Which school do you wish to transfer to in order to take an MBA in Aviation?  There are two in India (Univesity of Petroleum and Energy Studies in Dehradun, India and Hindustan University in Chennai) and one in UAE (Emirates Aviation College/Emirates Airlines Aviation College).

In this instance, you need to contact each of the MBA in Aviation programs listed above and find out what their admissions requirements are.  They will tell you if entrance exams are required and how to take them.

Thank you again for your questions and best wishes in completing your search for the right aviation education program for your needs.

Answer
HI,

Nice to hear from you again!

The schools that I am aware of in Canada that most likely offer a baccalaureate degree in an aviation-related area (where your prior work in aircraft maintenance engineering might apply) are as follows:

British Columbia Institute of Technology

University of Western Ontario

Seneca College (just outside Toronto)

There might be one or two more, but, those are the ones I know about.....

With all best wishes to you,
