Answer
Hi, Rahul:

Your choice of which education program to pursue to do to enter the aviation industry depends a lot on what segment of the aviation industry that you want to work within.  For your aviation career options, keep in mind that there are many parts of the aviation and aerospace industry that need and use aviation electronics (or avionics) specialists.  For example, the aviation industry consists of:

Aviation and Aerospace Manufacturing (which includes electrical and electronics components as applied to aviation--the Avionics sector)

Airlines, including international, national and regional carriers--including the maintenance of aircraft (Avionics or, aviation electronics, are a key part of that segment--)

Government Aviation including airports and national government regulatory branches. This also includes the air traffic control and national airspace management (Air Traffic Management) options....they use a lot of employees who have electronics in their background)

General Aviation--the operation and maintenance of smaller aircraft including business jets ( a growth market)--this also includes electronics work.

In order to work directly with aviation electronics, you will want to consider some specific aviation electronics training.   This can be obtained through an aviation maintenance engineering school or program that has aviation electronics program or course offerings.  The International Civil Aviation Organization or ICAO has a listing of such schools at www.icao.int

Aviation electronics training can also be obtained through the military, which also offers aviation electronics training throught military air force academies in your nation.  Such training can also be obtained on an aircraft-specific basis via an airline, once you are hired by an airline.

In order to have a very marketable TECHNICAL PLUS MANAGEMENT BACKGROUND, you may wish to pursue an MBA (in addition to technical aviation electronics training). In doing so, you might want to consiser an MBA with an aviation emphasis in order to give you some aviation background.  I understand that there is an aviation MBA at the Emirates Airlines Aviation Academy in UAE and also there is an aviation MBA offered in India at either the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (Dehradun) or at the Hindustan University/ Institute of Technology in Chennai.

I wish you the very best in your pursuit of higher education and a career in aviation.

Sincerely,

David A. NewMyer, Ph.D.
