Yes propeller aircraft have broken the sound barrier. The P-51 was inadvertently flown past the barrier while diving. and many pilots were killed. It suffered sever reverse control problems. Any aircraft at about mach 0.8 have many parts that are exceeding the sound barrier. (the curved surfaces cause the air to speed up.) That is why most commercial jets do not exceed mach .8
