Question
Hi David
I need some help, I am in the British Army studying for my degree and have been set the following assignment. Can you please give me some direction. Please, Please. the assignment reads:
You are the Nominated Postholder for Maintenance within an airline that is starting from scratch. You need to satisfy the authority that your airline qualifies for its AOC with regard to maintenance management. The Fleet consists of four aircraft:- Two new Boeing 737-700 & Two used Boeing 737-300 Quick Change aircraft with a Cargo Door installed under a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC). As it is a small airline you will contract out Base & Line Maintenance. Your main Line Maintenance provider will cover your fixed bases, but you will contract out Line Maintenance to various out-stations for ad-hoc operations as & when they arise. You will maintain your own Technical Records in house.
Provide a Project Plan that shows how will meet all the requirements stating what level of company approvals will be required to achieve this. Include within this how you will create & maintain an approved maintenance programme, the Boeing Maintenance Planning Document (MPD) will be accepted by the authority, however this will not cover the Cargo Door STC.

Answer
Hi,

I am not well equipped to answer this particular question, nor do I like to do assignments for others.  However, I can tell you this much:  It seems to me that you will need to get the following informaiton to formulate an answer:

JAA information on airline maintenance operations for large transport category aircraft, including:

*Aviation maintenance personnel qualification requirements, including requirements for those who will supervise the maintenance management portion of the operation

*AOC requirements

*STC (Supplemental Type Certificate) requirements

*Regulatory (JAA) requirements for contracting out base and line maintenance operations and oversight requirements for those contracts at the airline

*Technical Records maintenance requirements

Also, you will need:

*Company approval processes and requirements

AND

*Boeing Maintenance Planning Document requirements

*Boeing Maintenance manuals on the 737-700 and 737-300 QC
Aircraft

I hope that this helps you get started.

Best wishes on completing your assignment.

Sincerely,
