Date: 7/8/2007
Subject: Boeing 747 400

Question
Can a Boeing 747 400 jumbo jet at maximum weight take off on only 2 engines? The length of the runway is irrelevant Thanks Paul

Answer
Paul, thanks for the question.

No.

Okay for more elaboration, it takes maybe, ninety percent N1 power for the thrust to get that weight going, it would take a heck of a lot more to get all of those guys running, you dont need 4 engines to land, it can land on 1 engine, but you dont need that kind of power to land.

Thanks for the question, let me know if this needs explantion or elaboration.
