Question
Where can I find the latest FAA regulations regarding checked baggage searches on commercial carriers.  My main concern is if I should be granted the opportunity to be present at any searches that require the opening of my checked bags.  Thank you.

All security regulations are covered under Code of Federal Regulations, Title 14, Federal Aviation Regulations, Part 107. A link with the FARs online you can cut & paste into your browser is:

When searching your belongings, personnel are to tell you what they are searching for, and you should be allowed to supervise the search. Indirect air carrier security (like contract security companies) is governed under Part 109, which is also available at the page above.
