Question
QUESTION: Hi Marc Ebelini,
I Mohd Younus Ahmed from INDIA did my Bachelor of Technology in Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering. I would like to do my Mater's course in Air Craft Maintenance. I would like to know that weather iam eligible to do Air Craft maintenance Engineering in my master's as my back ground is Electronics & Instrumentation Engineer. I'll be thankful to you if u could suggest me and informed me which universities are offering that course in India and which university is best in the world to do Master in Air Craft Maintenance Engineering.

Thanking You.

  Younus

ANSWER: I am not familiar with the education in your country but I will try to response the best I can. The term maintenance engineering is confusing to me. Aircraft maintenance is just that, engineering is another subject. In this country aircraft maintenance is performed by licensed aircraft and powwerplant mechanics. The next level would be aeronautical engineering with either a bachelor or the next level a masters degree. Teaching usually requires a masters degree.  Embry Riddle is the most common name in schools here by I am not qualified to say it is the best. They have a campus here in Florida where I live. The three basic levels here are General aviation, commercial and manufacturing. So you must decide which area suits you best. Each one has it's owns rewards. Worked in both commercial and general. It's like being a little fish in a big pond or being a big fish in a little pond respectively. I chose the later myself specializing in Avionics.

QUESTION: Hi Marc Ebelini,
First of all i'll thank you for replying me back. But iam yet in confusion with your reply. You didn't said me that whether iam eligible to do my master in aeronautics engineering or not as my back ground is Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering. I heard that the people who had their back ground in Aeronautics can only eligible for master in Aeronautics Engineering. Hope to see your reply this time clearly. Hope now my question is clear for you to give a advise to me.

Thanking You.
  Younus.

Answer
Now you have me confused. You can work in any field you want regardless of your degree. In the United States you will need a license to work on aircraft in any form whether electronics or mechanics. There arwe apprentise programs that will allow you to do the work under the supervision of a licensed person until such time as you have completed the amount of time that makes you eliglible to take the test. That is both written and practical. Practical means you must demonstrate your ability to weld and other areas covered in the license. Contact Embry Riddle online and find out the details Ypour previous education helps but will still neeed to comply with the regulations of the country for which you will like to work in. Those this help?
