Question
Hi David

I'm another volunteer, I've corresponded with you before.

Briefly can you tell me what you know of the progess of this project? I know its been ongoing for several years now but getting specific information out of NASA is difficult. I'm thinking of inviting them to speak at an airports conference here next year. (Incidentally, do you do that, or anyone else at your university, I'm always on the lookout for new views and topics).

Best regards,

David Bentley

Answer
Hi, David,

Nice to hear from you again.  No, I am afraid I may not know anything about the NASA project that you mention in your question.  The only things I have seen on the subject on personal travel from them have to do with the "SATS"  project.....if that is what you are looking for, one of the main contractors has been the Nebraska Space Consortium and Brent Bowen at University of Nebraska at Omaha. Check their website at www.unomaha.edu/~unoai

As far as speaking on the subject of airports, I have some expertise in the area of primary airport planning in metropolitan areas, on general aviation reliever airports, on airport finance and on the impact of dereguation on airports....those are all topics I have either spoken about or written about previously.  I teach airport planning courses here at SIUC at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  I am still dabbling in airport planning as a consultant but have not worked full time in the field since coming to work for Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance,
