Answer
Normally my job is to try to answer technical questions related to aircraft maintenance. First let me say, the extent of the scope is usually limited to the individual. Systems cover many areas so to be able to analyze nay system your knowledge should cover many areas of expertise. Today systems incorporate computers in addition to electronics, hydraulics and other fields. Once a broad knowledge of the fore mention subjects is obtained your expertise could be applied to other areas. Factory automation is one example were the knowledge could then be applied. Every thing today is controlled by a CPU whether it's a micro wave oven or your video recorder. To analyze any system you first need to fully understand the logic behind it. I started writing a little code only to understand it even if not good at it, at least you know what the logic behind was all about. That coupled with the knowledge of the other areas mention should make you a good system annalist regardless of the field. My knowledge of electricity and electronics allows me to apply it to fixing my car as well as my boat because I can understand the manual. It doesn't limit me to airplanes. Hope I've made myself clear.
