Question
Hi David,
I asked a question to David Bentley another allexpert and he said that i should come to you because you may know the answer.  I am looking for economic opportunities that are occurring in the aerospace manufacturing industry? Thank you so much in advance for all of your help,

Aishling Daunt

Answer
Hi, Aishling:

Thanks for your question.  Actually, I am not sure what you mean by "economic opportunities" so I will assume that you mean "employment."  There are quite a number of jobs in the aerospace manufacturing industry, which employs approximately 680,000 people.  To find out about jobs and the job application process, you need to contact the largest of the companies such as The Boeing Company (www.boeing.com) and Lockheed Martin (www.lockheedmartin.com) via their websites and find out what they have to offer.  Their websites offer hundreds of jobs each and, in the case of The Boeing Company, you can only apply via their website...paper resumes are no longer accepted there.  Both companies have various business locations all over the nation with Boeing employing approximately 168,000 and Lockheed Martin about 125,000.  Another large aerospace holding company is Textron, parent company of Cessna, Bell Helicopters, McCauley Propellors,  and Lycoming Engines.....together they employ over 65,000 people.

For overall aerospace industry information, contact The Aerospace Industries Association of America at
aia@aia-aerospace.org  for some good industry-wide information and reports.

I hope that this information is of assistance to you.  If you need more clarification, let me know with a follow up question.

Best wishes,
