Question
QUESTION: I did aircraft maintenance engg. in 1998, i have dual qualification i.e. three yrs certificate in aircraft maint. engg. (licence course approved by D.G.C.A.) and three yrs diploma in aeronautical engg. and aircraft maintenance engg. I am looking for a job in aviation. can you suggest me how can i make come back?

ANSWER: Hi,

The qualifications that you hold should be of interest to any airline in India.  These airlines would include Air India, Indian, Kingfisher, Jet Airways and many others.  They are expected to grow substantially in the next ten years, so, the jobs should be there.

The question is:   What have you done in terms of work experience since your graduation/completion in 1998?  That is nine years to account for and could be critical to your job search.

Create a precise, one page resume of your qualifications that includes a job objective, education received, training received, work experience, special qualifications (just as certificates held) and the like.

Good luck in your job search!

QUESTION: Is there any small course in any college or university through which i can make myself update or upgrade  in a  more specified way with the current trend.( means specialisation)

Answer
HI,

I have three ideas for you:

ICAO, the International Civil Aviation Organization, holds conferences, short courses and other events that might provide you with the update you are looking for.  Try www.icao.int

Some aviation interest groups and associations also offer short courses, conferences and other events that might be of interest.  I would enter the key words "aviation short courses" or "aviation conferences" or "aviation training courses" into any search engine such as Google and see what you find out.

Universities and colleges that offer aviation also sometimes offer short courses or conferences and I think you will find them with the above method.

Best of luck to you,
