Question
How do you go about filing charges against the Federal Government for years of cruel and unusual pschological warfare type abuse?  Civil or criminal?
Thanks

Answer
Hi Mark,

The Federal government is subject to sovereign immunity, meaning it cannot be sued civilly.  One also cannot bring criminal charges against the government since only the government can bring criminal charges.

One can sue certain individuals within the goverment, although they are also entitled to limited immunity for damages.  Because the immunity issues are so complex, I really don't even recommend trying without an experienced lawyer.  But basically, one would file a civil suit in federal district court against the officials responsible for the illegal activity.

I hope this helps!
