Affirmative Action/Quotas/Civil Rights/Should juveniles be tried as adults?

Question
I am writing a persuasive paper on why juveniles should not be tried as adults and I was hoping to get your opinion on it. I was also wondering about why people would care about the subject and how it affects them. I need an expert's point of view.
It would be greatly appreciated!

Answer
Hi Yana,

This is, of course a matter of personal opionion.  There are valid arguments on both sides.  My personal view is that children should not be tried as adults.  Children do not have the wisdom nor the experience to make the same sorts of judgments as adults.  They have a greater capability to change and turn their lives around.  Also, since they cannot vote, they don't really have a say in the laws that are binding them.  This is not to say crimes by children should not be punished, often seriously.  But corrective action, in my option, should be different than for adults.

I hope this helps!
