My question is.. Is life insurance or any other type of insurance mandatory to have in order to fly from Africa to the United states.. My husband is there and he is being told that he can not come home because he doesn't have 2600.00 to purchase life insurance.. So customs would not allow him to board the plan on Tuesday night. Is this true or is it a scam..That is what I am trying to find out.. He is being told and so was I that Africa has an agreement with the U.S. that no one flies out of there without having life insurance... I find this hard to believe.

thank you for clarifying. I am british so dont know the ins and outs of what happens in America but it sounds rubbish to me. I have never heard for such a thing.
You would be best to contact the US Embassy in Nigeria. Or you can contact the Nigerian embassy in the states. They would know.
