Question
I visited Ghana in the summer. I fell in love with Accra. I am wanting to move to Ghana and make a place to call home. I am really having trouble finding a job in the medical field. I am a Medical Secretary or Medical Office Assistant (Which ever you choose to call it). I have been in the field for 9 years. Can you please help with finding a web link for healthcare employment.

Answer
Hi Rebecca,

Finding a job as a medical secretary or medical office assistant shouldn't be too difficult in Ghana. Your problem will be getting the employment/resident visa in order to work here because you being a foreigner in Ghana, anyone offering you a job must have a quota for hiring foreigners and then sponsor you with the Immigration department.

As for weblinks, there aren't many but you can try the following:

http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/classifieds/listing.php?CATEGORY=M
http://www.businessghana.com/portal/jobs/

Be careful when responding to some web adverts as some may be fraudulent. Never send money to someone who claims to be able to find you a job.

Alternatively, you can try contacting some of the bigger companies here directly as they will all have their own health department:

Exxon
Kosmos Energy
Newmont Gold Mines
Unilever
Nestle
Aqua Vitens Rand Ltd.
Vodaphone

I hope this helps.

I can answer most questions about Ghana in terms of doing business, setting up a business, investment requirements, local cost of living, and pretty much most information that you would not normally find on official government websites. I also do some consulting for the Ghana Immigration Service so can answer most immigration related questions.

Experience

I have lived in Ghana for the past 5 years running my own factory. As well, I import and export out of Ghana. I have contacts and friends here from all walks of life from the average unemployed person to government ministers.
