Question
QUESTION: I have been told if booking an online for a flight from accra to the
usa that there is a delay of about 1 1/2 wks to be able to use that ticket d/t the slowness of the internet in ghana...seems odd to me since it is possible to communicate via online chatting w/o delay..

ANSWER: I have booked Delta flights from Accra to JFK through their website before and had no problems. Make the reservation online, then go to their office (at Silverstar in the airport area) to pay for it and you'll get your e-ticket. No waiting at all. You also get a discount for booking online.

QUESTION: what if you are trying to pay for the flight via a credit card online and not at the airport.

ANSWER: Yes you can pay by credit card. I didn't as I don't use credit cards in Africa as it's just not safe due to the amount of fraud.

QUESTION: what if the flight booking is done from the usa...does it increase the time it takes for the booking to be valid vs paying cash at the airport?

Answer
If you're booking a seat to go from Accra to USA from the US, then it will cost you more as you'd probably have to pay full fare economy (Full Y class). As for validity, it shouldn't make a difference and it shouldn't make any time differences. It is always better to pay before you get to the airport as this will guarantee your seat. If you don't pay before you get to the airport on the day of your flight, you most likely will lose your reservation if they are fully booked. Airlines generally overbook each flight.
