Question
Hello Ernest, Do you know what Algeria's name means and it's origin? Thank you and I hope you can help!

Answer
I'm afraid that my knowledge of Northern Africa along the coastal region of Algiers is limited to textbook reading as I have not traveled their personally.  The name Algeria though is almost certainly derived from the city of Algiers, which has been a regional capital since the Ottoman Turks held this part of Africa within their empire.  The region of Algeria had been settled by Berbers some 4 thousand years ago, and though converted to Islam remain a predominant ethnic group.  Therefore, the actual meaning of the word Algiers or Algeria have either Arabic or Berber linguistic origins.  Sorry I can't be of more help.
