AboutDavid Dickeson, A.S. Expertise At age 33, I began to worry about "turning 40." I decided to do something - anything! - before I was 'over the hill' in life and health. I figured that once you turn "age 40," life was 'over,' and you spend the next 40 years rapidly aging and "falling apart." If you were lucky, the 'blessing' of death would come before it was too late!!
I am now 56 (May, 08!) and I am enjoying life more than I ever had. How wrong - mentally - I was! When I became STRONGER - physically - everything got better for me.
"Growing old" is NOT a 'natural process.' It is a terrible disease you have to FIGHT each day.
Experience Proper exercise is the answer to "aging well." I have been exercising for 23 years and I have 'first-hand' experience at to what works, and what does not. Especially for older people like myself. Good health does NOT come from sitting in a stuffed chair, 'weightlifting' by lifting soup cans and watching "Murder She Wrote..." This was advised to me by a federal agency for aging seniors! GIVE me a BREAK!!

Question QUESTION: hello David, i have recently read an article online stating that height loss can be reduced by eating a diet rich in calcium and daily exercise. i would like to know how much height loss i could cut down on losing. i am 18.5 years old standing 6ft 4 inches and weight 165 pounds. please drop me an email when you get this message sincerely Kevin
ANSWER: Hello Kevin
Unfortunately genetics decides how tall, or short we are. At age 18, you most likely have reached your full height growth. Definitely I would recommend exercise, especially weightlifting, to put some strength and mass on your 6 ft 4 inch frame!
Now let's talk height. People STEREOTYPE other people based on their appearance. Tall people are DEFINITELY looked at as leaders, successful, protectors of others. Your height will give you respect from others.
On the negative side, people shorter than you will envy your height and many will verbally and/or physically assault you, only because of your height. Having strength and mass will be an advantage as this will give a physical 'message' to such people to respect, and do not bother you.
Thanks for the question Kevin. You are the first person asking how to make your height, shorter! Everyone else wants to get taller.

QUESTION: hello again this is kevin just writing to clarify my question asked. what i was trying to say was is there any way to maintain your full height or as much as you can as you age with exercise and lots of calcium. Answer Hello again
Sorry I did not understand your question.
I exercise daily. At age 18, I was 6 feet, 2 inches tall. Now at age 56, I still tape measure at 6 feet, 2 inches tall. Based on my own personal experience, I would say that DEFINITELY you do not loose any height when you do weightlifting. I never took calcium supplements. Weightlifting and proper diet has always gave me all the calcium I need.
