Question
Why do green grass cuttings give off heat?  What is the reaction happening to make it do so?  The cat likes lying in it and Sonny managed to cook and egg sandwich buried in a heap.

It is a chemical reaction when material decomposes. If the grass did not contain any water, it would not decompose. It is the microorganism or bacteria that is making the grass rot. Any thing that rots will produce heat. After the reaction stops you have compose this is good for putting in the soil to enrich it. Work it in your garden and you can see the difference it can make in your plants.
