Question QUESTION: Dear sir, I have the following questions:
1- What is quick coupling valve?
2- Is a sprinkler and a bubbler the same?
3- What is coupler swivels that comes with QCV?
Thanks,
ANSWER: Adam
Quick coupling valve is just what it sounds like. Some of the couplers fit together with a twist or push it in and hold it together with a hook. The other coupler (not quick) would have threads that would need to turn the pipe to fit them together, like pipe fitings.
A sprinkler sprinkles water in pluses and most go round in circles. They work under preasure from 20 pounds to 80 pounds. A bubbler exits the pipe from a hole cut in the pipe. Most work from the pressure of gravity.
I do not know the answer to your third question.
Hope this helps you

QUESTION: Dear Richard
I would appreciate it if you could answer the following questions:
First question: Is it better to irrigate in numerous short periods instead of few longer periods so as to prevent run off and thus wasting water. Please note that each short period makes the soil sufficiently moist.
Second question: what is the range in minutes an irrigation sprinkler should operate without causing run off in the ground and wasting water. The area is grassy turf and some area is with short shrubs. The weather in the summer is very hot and dry with temperatures of around 115 -120 F and winters are mild.
I had timed the operation of sprinklers in several existing parks it is usually between 2- 6 minutes.
Answer Adam
When you do irrigate put enough water on to reach the roots. You can check this by digging down to see how far the water has gone down.Check the time when you dig to see how deep the water has gone.
The amount of time to run the sprinklers depends on how much water you are applying per minute. If it is small head with little water being applied evaporation will wast water. If the head is larger more water will be applied in a short time. At your temperature the larger heads will be the best. The grass with its shade will hold the water more than the short shrubs. Grass with its short roots will need more water than the shrubs. Irrigate late in the evening is the best time this will save water.
Good luck
Richard
