Question
I live in Jalalabad, Eastern Afghanistan, and i am working with an Organization, we were planted potatoes in low area here in (Sept, 23, 09) and harvested in (Jan 15, 10, and now i would like to plant it in highland in eastern region, around (Fe 10-15,10), my question is that how could i help these New potatoes to sprout faster, and ready for planting, Thanks, Noori

Answer
Noori
I think you are trying to plant too early. The potato needs to rest (be dormant) for about 30 days after harvest. My suggestion is to after harvest cool the potatoes down to about 35 to 40 degrees for 30 days then warm them up to 45 to 50 for two weeks and then plant.
Good luck
