Agriculture/Soil Depletion

Question
I recently read your response to the question on soil depletion. I'm interested in the topic. It seems that the vitamin companies have the most interest in having the public believe that soils have been deleted of their nutrients. Yet even someone such as myself without a background in agricultural science would wonder how soils that are depleted can yield so much produce. My question then is this. Could you lead me to any studies on the topic?

Thanks,

I don't know where to send you to look for the information you are seeking in your area. I know in most farming areas there are experiment stations that study the growth of plants and what fertilizers do to their yield. I can only suggest looking on the web pages under USDA, you might find what you are looking for there.
Good luck,
Richard
