Question
i live in houston tx and want to know if it is possible to grow buckwheat in my backyard? i have st augustine grass and wanted to know if it is possible to grow buckwheat by spreading seeds in my back yard.

It is my understanding that this is a crop that requires cool moist climate. It is grown in the northern states and Canada. You might try and plant a small space in your area of Houston in the late Fall to see if it might make a green crop, but I wouldn't expect it to produce grain. If it does grow during the Winter it might crowd out the growing St Augustine grass. This is the best information I can supply to you.
