Question
How many pounds of apples are in a bushel?

Answer
Andy
Had to look this one up. The federal statutes is 50 pounds of ripe apples in a bushel. In Illinois you could have 47 pounds of green apples. In Vermont,Wisconsin and Main you could have 44 pounds. That is the high and low, nothing over 50. Now if they are dried the weight varies from 22 pounds to 28 pounds per bushel. For apple seeds that is standard at 40 pounds per bushel. Don't know why the weight varies.
