Agriculture/shape of plots in spain and portugal

Question
flying from italy to portugal I saw hundreds of circular shapes which I think might be agricultural plots. Can you tell me anything about that? Thank you

Answer
Andrea
What you saw is the irrigation system. It is called a pivot. Most are 1320 feet long. Some will make a full circle others are set to make just part of a circle. The full circle will cover about 160 acres. It is a continous moving while spraying water the rate of irrigation water depends on the speed selected for the crop. I saw my first one in 1977 in the mid-west of America.
