Question
i would like to know are there kicks specificaly for aikido,or they are just the normal kicks for other martial arts like for example tae-kwo-ndo? and where in the human body is the side kick most usefull in a street fight?thank you

Answer
Hi Collins
kicks are kicks. Aikido prepares you to respond to any attack including any kind of kick. We are responding to a stream of energy and our response depends upon the direction. For example, a round house kick requires a more circular response than a more vertical snap kick. Our response would be to de- escalate and control the kicker, not to kick back, which would only escalate the situation.
Hope that helps.
