Air Quality/pollutant trapping and humidity

Question
Mr. Russell:

Are air pollutants more easily trapped within a local area if the humidity is high?  I ask this question based on personal observation.  It seems that the visibility tends to be lower (due to particulates) when the humidity is high in my local area.

And if this is true, why?  Is it because pollutants bind to water vapor particles and thus are less easily dispersed if there's not much wind?

Thanks,
Priscilla
