Air Travel/flying with plaster Paris

Question
My brother has just broken his leg and is in a cast from his thigh to his toes and we are due to go skiing in less than 2 weeks.I am wondering if he will be able to fly with the plaster Paris?

Answer
Yes, he can fly with a plaster cast.  No problem, security-wise.  The TSA will use their swab to test the cast for explosive residue, but that's it.

I feel sorry for your brother, missing out on the ski trip.  If he's in a cast from thigh to toe, flying is going to be exceedingly uncomfortable.  Try to check in early and ask the airline agent for a decent seat.  You may want to request the bulkhead.
