I have to travel on business and my wife is very pregant on bed rest.  My question is how can I get a one-way ticket back if I need to get back quickly.  Is this possible?  How long would it take to get a flight?

Yes you can.
You'll only need to purchase a full, unrestricted and unrefundable fare.

To get a flight, of course it will depends where you are, where you'll need to be and flight availability in that given hour.
