QuestionQUESTION: hi
i have a friend flying to meet me from Russia, in Jamaica. She is flying through London nonstop, so no visa is required, except for the entry visa issued in jamaica. My question is about her e-ticket for Air Jamaica from London to MBJ. Will she able to board her flight in Moscow if she isn't holding the actual ticket?
jeff
ANSWER: Dear Jeff,
I am assuming that your friend is a citizen of the Russian Federation. To enter Jamaica, she will need a visa and to transit through London visa not required if:
- continuing by same/first connecting aircraft to a third
country within 24 hours; and
- holding confirmed reservations; and
- holding documents required for next destination.
So in Moscow she will need to present all the tickets for her whole itinerary and comply with the above transit requirements.
Hope this helps. If you need any additional info, please let me know.

QUESTION: hi
Im still unsure because Air Jamaica is saying that she needs only the e-ticket confirmation or Itinerary, with the receipt. You seem to be saying this wont work. Ive tried emailing the airline, KD AVIA, but I have received no response.
jeff
AnswerDear Jeff,
Like I said (since she does not hold a transit to enter UK), she will need to show, by the time she is making check-in at KD Avia counter, her whole itinerary, (otherwise KD Avia can refuse to check her in)which in this case is composed by two interline segments:
Moscow to London (Gatwick airport)on KD Avia , and
London (Gatwick or Heathrow)to Jamaica on Air Jamaica.
She will be transiting London without a visa, which is perfectly normal and authorized, provided the conditions set on my first answer.
She may leave the airport transit area, at the discretion of Immigration authorities, for e.g. a nightstop in town or if transfer between different airport applicable, provided holding confirmed onward reservations and correct documentation for next destination
Non-compliance with transit requirements (including forged documents) results in fines for carrier of GBP 2,000.- per passenger and either deportation or indefinite delay for passenger at point of transit (detention costs at carrier's expense).
Hope this clarifies.
