Question
I bought a bottle of whiskey in Japan, (Not at the airport), and had it wrapped.
May I bring this in my carry on luggage, or does it need to travel in check in baggage?
I understand all the other requirements for cosmetics etc

Secondly, I will fly fro, Japan with Delta and arrive in Atlanta, where I have 80 minutes to go through immigration, customs, get my checked baggage and then check in for my connecting flight to Myrtle Beach.
Will I have enough time? (I am not an American citizen, so immigration procedures could take longer.)
Thank you very much

Answer
Dear Craig,

Since your bottle was bought outside the "sterile area"(after x-ray inspection) you'll need to place it with your checked baggage, because the contents exceed the normal allowance.

You can see the requirements used in Japan at Narita airport at the following link:

http://www.narita-airport.jp/en/whats_new/070209.html

To play safe, it is a good idea to try to change your reservation for the next available flight, since your flight from Japan may face a delay and add an unexpected delay to the immigration formalities. Allow at least two hours for this process.

You can check a guide prepared by Atlanta's airport on international to domestic connections(see the Guide to Arriving Int'l Passengers table) at the following link:

Hope this helps.
