Air Travel/7 hour layover at LAX

Question
Hey, I hope you don't hate this question, but I don't know where else to go and this site has really helped me before. Anyway, I have a seven and a half hour layover at LAX (I'm moving away from my family in Washington DC to live with my boyfriend in Hawaii) I know I'm going to be a nervous wreck that day and sitting in an airport for seven hours is going to bring havoc to my thought process. Is there anywhere that I can go take a shower, or work out, or get a massage or something? Is 6 and a half hours enough time to leave the airport and come back? I guess my luggage would be checked for HI so I'd only have to bring my carry on, right? Do you think there are hair saloons or showers or anything INSIDE the airport so I don't have to leave? Do you have any suggestions on what to do with a 7 hour layover?

Also, I got a passport when I was fourteen to go to Peru, but it expired after five years since I was a minor. I think I lost it. It's not lost lost, I lost it during the forth time I've moved in the past year, so I know it's somewhere, I just don't know where. I won't need it since Hawaii is part of the US, right? And how do I go about getting a new one.

Thanks so much,
Mary

p.s. I'm 22 so I'm too young to rent a car and furthermore I wouldn't trust my sense of direction in an unfamiliar place.

Answer
Dear Mary,

Thanks for your comments. In addition to them, YMCA is located close to the airport at 8015 South Sepulveda Boulevard
