Question
What quantity of alcohol (spirits) per person is allowed to be packed in our baggage to Aus? And will it be acceptable if we vacuum pack our clothing inside the suitcase?

Answer
Dear Liz,

Since I receive questions from all over the world, I am assuming that you're planning to visit Austria or Australia, and not Austin-Texas(US).

If Austria is your first country of arrival in Europe (if not you'll need to check other countries regulations), each person is allowed to:

1 liter of spirits over 22 % vol. or
2 liters of fortified wine or sparkling wine or
2 liters of still wine

If your destination is Australia,  2.25 litres of alcohol is allowed for each passenger aged 18 years or over.

As far as baggage vacuum packed there is no problem, but the Customs officer may inspect them if he/she finds necessary.

Hope this helps. Please rate this answer.
