Question
Dear Roberto,
My wife is a Swiss citizen and the holder of a green card. She went home to Switzerland last June and will be traveling back this early February. She holds a valid Swiss passport but not a biometric passport. Will she be required to have a biometric passport upon re-entry to the US since she has been gone so long.
Thanks,
Brett

Answer
Dear Brett,

To re-enter the US, since your wife has her valid Permanent Resident/Resident Alien Card (Form I-551) also known as the green card, there is no need of a biometric passport.

Travel documents are valid until the expiration date.

Best Regards,
R. Gomes
