Question
Hi Kenske,

I am traveling from DC to Sydney in January and have found that I can get cheaper tickets if I buy two separate tickets from WAS->LAX (Southwest) and LAX->SYD (Air Pacific) rather than the cheapest WAS->SYD ticket on Kayak/Orbitz.

What I'm not sure is if I can pick up my luggage directly in SYD rather than having to check-in again in LAX. How do I find out which airlines have luggage agreement with Air Pacific?

Thank you for your help!
Ian

Answer
Unless you fly exclusively by Air Pacific, u will have to check in 2 times. I know that Air Pacific has a partnership with American Airlines. So u may be able to check your bag only once if u flew with them. (star alliance has similar agreement within partner carriers)

check with aa and air pacific's reps. Worst comes to worst fly southwest and air pacific. S.W. Can save u money on check-in luggage.
Thank you for contacting me.
