Air Travel - Delta Sky Miles

Expert: Roberto Gomes - 11/2/2009

Question
What is the best day of the week to fly using air miles? In other words, days least desireable to others using miles.
Are there any "trick" words or methods I need to know to get them to release more air mile seats ?
I am FAT, so instead of inflicting the embarassment on myself of flying coach, i travel less often and then only in 1st class.  4 years in a row i had NO difficulty getting award seats - this year, they keep telling me no award seats are available, all the way up until Nov 2010 !
Any ideas are GREATLY appreciated !

Answer
Dear Ruby,

Normally on the flights with a lesser demand the airlines offer more redemption seats.
These flights are operated off peak hours (11AM-4PM) and particularly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Take also in mind some regional particularities (festivities, sports, vacation seasons on US domestic and international markets) where the demand can be higher.

Avoid calling the airline reservations since agents are not so patient. The internet is the right place to "keep fishing".

Hope this helps.
Best Regards,
R. Gomes
