Question
I have a friend that lives in Russia and she wants to visit me here in the U. S. Now she is telling me that she has to show that has money for food at $50.00 per day that she is here. Now she is going to have a round trip ticket from Russia to the U.S. and back. She also has her visa and passport in order and is ready to travel.

Answer
Dear Donnie,

The answers is the same provided to Patrick...

There is no regulation that says the specific amount that a tourist visiting the US must present to the inspectors.

Passengers not having proof of sufficient funds for length of stay and outward travel may be refused entry at inspector's discretion. Visitor who does not hold return/onward ticket and documents required for return or onward destination could be refused entry and returned to point of origin.

Best Regards,
