Air Travel/minimum connection time

Question
My wife and I will be traveling from Amsterdam to Newark to Denver on Continental Airlines.  In August, 2009, when we booked our round trip tickets (using OnePass miles) we had a one hour & 55 minute layover in Newark for our return to Denver.  Today I discovered there has been a schedule change and we now have only a 55 minute layover. We will have to go through immigration/customs when we arrive in Newark so if we miss our connection do we have any recourse against Continental?  There are not 2 seats available on a flight that leaves 25 minutes later so that is not an option.  I look forward to your reply.

Answer
Dear Kent,

Continental must had notified you when they made this schedule change, so it's up to they to maintain and guarantee your connection. Have the reservation history printed with you just to reconfirm this change.

But I agree with you that 55 minutes is not enough. Late resource is to call reservations, explain the problem and ask them to rebook you on the next flight. Try to do it in advance.

Best Regards,
