QUESTION: Are there any rules about Prescription drugs in CARRY ON other than they have to be in original bottle with prescription label? Do you have to delcare them or anything?

Answer
Dear Karen,

If the liquid medications are in volumes larger than 3 ozs each, they may not be placed in the quart-size bag and must be declared to the Transportation Security Officer. A declaration can be made verbally, in writing, or by a person's companion, caregiver, interpreter, or family member.

Declared liquid medications and other liquids for disabilities and medical conditions must be kept separate from all other property submitted for x-ray screening.

Non-liquid or gel medications of all kinds such as solid pills, or inhalers are allowed through the security checkpoint once they have been screened. The TSA recommend, but do not require, that your medications be labeled to assist with the screening process.

Best Regards,
