Air Travel/one way vs round-trip

Question
Don't know if this is your area but you may know. I haven't flown in many years but at some point, I don't know when,  will have to fly out of town at a moment's notice re: either a serious familiy illness or death and want to be as prepared as possible. Since I wouldn't know exactly how long I'd be there, am I pretty much forced to book just a one way flight, even though a round trip ticket usually costs a lot less? If that is still the case.   Thanks

Answer
Dear Lee,

Although I'm not an expert when the subject is fares, airlines normally waive any fees and charges when it comes to a illness/death situation. For sure the round-trip is the best investment, but try to shop around for a fare that does not have this kind of restriction.

Best Regards,
