Air Travel/Flying Internationally as a Minor

Question
Hey there! I have some questions about flying internationally. I'm 15 years old and I live in the USA. If I were to fly to Sweden alone, would I need a permission slip signed by my parents? Would I need a visa to get into the country? Would I need to have someone over the age of 18 traveling with me? I'm not entirely sure if I'll go yet, but we want to get everything right beforehand. Thanks for your help!

Answer
Dear Anna,

Sorry for the delay in the answer, since I was away on travel and I forgot to update my profile.

1. Visa is required, except for a max stay of 3 months.
2. Visitors must hold visible means of support and need to hold required documents (i.e., passport and where required, a visa) for return or onward journey.
3. The age requirements that are generally used by the airlines to define the unaccompanied minor are children between the ages of five and eleven years old (and sometimes up to 15) so therefore it is always advisable to contact the airline that you will use to make sure that they accept unaccompanied minors as passengers).
4. To check the docs required to issue the passport see this link...

Hope it helps.
