ANSWER: Dear Bernadette,

Holders of Portuguese passports don't need a visa to enter US or Canada.
Depending on your itinerary, i.e., if you want to go to the US first, you'll need to get an electronic permission called ESTA.

Dear Bernadette,

There is no relation of a Canadian visa to the US Visa.
It can help you in a certain way, but is not taking into account.
To get an US Visam normally you'll need to go to the US Embassy or Consulate and in some countries you'll need to schedule the interview in advance.
