Question
Where can I get info regarding the life of a round trip e-ticket? I'm planning to travel on May 5, 2011 & returning on May 15, 2011 for medical reasons. However, if things don't go as planned, I'll need to stay much longer. I would then need to change the date on the return flight but with no definite answer as to when I'll be returning. I understand that I'll need to inform the airline about the changes beforehand & sustaining a hefty penalty fee. But at the same time I need to know for how long my e-ticket is good for. Thanks.

Answer
Hello Sir, I am pretty sure your E-ticket is good for at least a full year. If you already have a ticket issued, just tell the airline to delay the return trip when that information becomes available or predictable.  If you have a refundable ticket, you can make changes (usually) without a heavy penalty.
For non ref. tickets, it's usually the fare difference and $100 penalty.  If it is a medical issue then you maybe able to get an exemption on the penalties if you have the right paperwork or proof of the medical procedure.

Please let me know if i didn't fully answer your question. Feel free to write a feedback or follow-up question.
