Question
Hi, I'm an Italian citizen and my J1 working VISA expires on August 31. I bought tickets to go back in Italy for the 1st of September and I will have a 1h 40min layover in Philadelphia International airoport from Orlando  international airoport. What do you suggest me to do?
Thanks for your help
Daniele

Answer
Dear Daniele,

If I'm understanding you correctly you're still in the US and will return to Italy one day after your visa expires.

If this is correct, the initial admission of an exchange visitor may not exceed the period specified on Form DS-2019, plus a period of 30 days only for domestic travel and/or to prepare for and depart from the U.S.

My best Regards,
R. Gomes
