Question
My name is Cindy Burke and I am moving from Atlanta to the USVIs (St. Thomas).  I need to know what paperwork I need to bring a 13 pound dog and a 14 pound cat to St. Thomas with me?  I am getting conflicting information.  Is it the same as if I was traveling with them to another state? Just their vet paperwork?  Delta told me I would also need something from the Gov't, but she wasn't sure.  Can you help?  Thanks!  Cindy

Answer
Dear Cindy,

All the information regarding the admission of animals in the US Virgin Islands can be found at the following link:

http://www.aphis.usda.gov/vs/sregs/vi.html

You will see that for dogs and cats the following applies:

All dogs/cats upon entering the Virgin Islands, shall be accompanied by an official health certificate stating that the animal did not originate from an area quarantined for rabies. All dogs/cats must have been vaccinated for rabies within 6 months prior to the date of shipment except those dogs/cats less than 8 weeks old. The certificate of vaccination for rabies must be attached to the official health certificate.

Hope this helps.
