Question
I will be traveling across the continent with two teenage boys.  Can they bring
small, individually packaged snack foods with them from home and carry them
onto the plane or do all food items need to be purchased after going through
security?  Needless to say, they can eat a lot of food in the time it takes to
complete this trip.  I'm having trouble finding this information on any of the
airline sites.  Thank you.

Answer
Dear Lynne,

Yes they can.

But also note that the Transportation Security Agency (TSA) also had taken steps to ensure the security of the boarding areas after you pass through the security checkpoints. Therefore, anything purchased in the secure area beyond the security checkpoint is allowed aboard your plane.

If you don't want to pack so much, you're ok. Also you can purchase food on board. Check with your airline if they offer this option.

Best Regards,
