Question
I have a disability that renders my phyisical condition unstable - the ticket agent at american airlines said that if i purchase a ticket in my name said ticket is non transferrable. even if it is purchased for a flight more then a month in advance. Is this information accurate ? if it is not could you point me to a reference that states otherwise?
thanks in advance.

Answer
Dear Chris,

An airline ticket is a contract made between a person and an airline, and due to this it can not be transferred to another person. It must be cancelled. But you can ask for refund (administrative taxes may be applied and at least 30 days to be processed) and with this buy another ticket for someone else.

Best Regards,
