Question
I am travelling from the USA to the UK via Canada, with my 11 year old whom I have sole custody of and also permission to travel to the UK in my divorce order.  Do I also need a letter of consent from the Father as well the Divorce Court Order?

Answer
Dear Pam,

Sorry, your question is outside my area of expertise, but I strongly recommend that you contact the Canadian and the UK Consulate services at 1-800-622-6232 and 1-900-990-8472 respectively for further information, since you will be in transit in Canada before arriving in the UK.

Since the US immigration does not check your departure from airports to Canada, but it will check you when you arrive back in the US, it is also advisable to call them to avoid any problems. The number is 1-800-375-5283.

Best Regards,
