Question
I am allowed by Mexican authorities to bring knives and kitchen cutlery in checked airline baggage? The TSA website indicates it's approved, but does not refer to travel to foreign countries (it seems). I would like to take a sheathed hunting knife with 5.5 inch blade as a gift, as well as a couple of nice kitchen knives (my in-laws are Mexican), but do not want to lose them to confiscation by Mexican customs at the airport.

Answer
Dear Jim,

As long as all the sharp objects are placed into your checked bags, you won't face any problem.

Please also note that any sharp objects in checked baggage must be sheathed or securely wrapped to prevent injury to baggage handlers and inspectors.
